The drive to the landfill is long. Make a quick and easy local deposit with Metro Waste & Recycling. We’ll take your material in Greeley, and transfer it to the next responsible stop.

How it works

  • Step 1

    1. Weigh in

Our scale attendants will greet you, identify your material & capture your heavy (gross) weight.

  • Step 2

    2. Unload

You’ll unload indoors in different areas depending on your material.

  • Step 3

    3. Weigh out

Return to the scale empty to capture your light (tare) weight.

  • Step 4

    4. Pay a fee

Based on the difference in weight, we’ll calculate your fee.

Weld County operates a free hazardous waste drop-off facility in Greeley

Built for single-stream

We do accept single-stream recycling and buit our system to keep this material separate from the general waste we transfer to landfills.

Single-stream means you can put all accepted recyclables — like clean cardboard and plastic containers — into your load. The materials are sorted later at a recycling facility.

Please don’t “wish-cycle”

We wish everything was recyclable, but it’s not. Items that aren’t accepted can contaminate the load, slow down processing, and cause recyclable material to be thrown away. When in doubt, check these guidelines or ask our staff. Find out what is and isn’t recyclable in Colorado.

We don’t buy metal in Greeley

But we will take your metal, ferrous and non-ferrous, for processing at our other facilities in the Denver area or direct you to these locations. Visit “All Recycling” to learn more.

No to electronic waste

We, unfortunately, do not take electronic waste at this site. Weld County organizes free residential electronic waste drop-off events, including a dedicated Greeley area collection day (typically in summer). These events accept TVs, computers, laptops, monitors, and many other electronics from households (no business waste). Learn more about Electronic Waste.
